Arrival & Departure

Crew members should book their reservations to arrive
by the afternoon of the scheduled boarding date for the leg.  We
will generally have dinner in the departure port and sail early the
following morning. We plan to be in the destination
port by late morning of the end date for the leg, so you can schedule an
        afternoon return
flight.  If you cannot sign on for the full leg, let me know and we will arrange a
mutually agreeable pick up or departure location.

        What to Bring

Bring only clothes that you can pack in one duffel bag, include deck
shoes, water resistant jacket, and appropriate casual attire for dining
        ashore. You may
also want to bring a pair of walking shoes for shore side excursions. Bring only a duffel bag
or soft luggage that will stow easily, there is not room to store hard or semi-hard luggage.
Don't over pack, Shorts & swimsuits are appropriate for shipboard on
most legs as we will be following the weather north and south.
Weather in the northern climes and Canada can run from hot to cold
however, so bring appropriate clothing for a variety of temperatures. You can also bring any favorite CD's or
Video Tapes, mark with your name.
        Daily Schedule

We will typically plan on having breakfast on board. We will weigh
anchor between 8-9 AM daily, except on days where a morning shore excursion is planned.
Average daily run will be about 65-70 SM, about 7-8 hours cruising,
allowing time for lunch stops and side trips as opportunities are
identified. Lunch will often be on board. A majority of dinners will probably be ashore, depending
on the availability of nearby restaurants as well as the interest of crew members in cooking.

        Shore Excursions & Sightseeing

We will plan on visiting the more interesting ports and sights along
the way.  Where we stop and for how long will depend upon the
desires and interests of the crew.  We will place enjoyment of the
voyage ahead of meeting a time schedule whenever possible.

        Safety

While most of the voyage will be on the well protected Intra Coastal
Waterway, or other protected seaways, SeaBird does have a 6 person life raft, in addition to a 4 passenger motorized
dingy. She is also equipped with 2 VHF radios, 2-GPS systems,
radar and cell-phone.  In an emergency the ship's
        nurse is on call.

        Comforts

SeaBird is a 47 foot Grand Banks Trawler, she has two cabins, each
with its own head and shower.  Each  has two berths, a V-berth forward and twins aft. Berths
will be determined by lot. There is a TV/VCR and CD player in the main salon. The ship's
library has a video selection of some 50 classic movies. Hair dryers, snorkel gear and
beach towels are provided.  Standard 110 v. is available.
        For
complete specifications, interior layout & photos visit the Grand
        Banks website.

        email

Email is available, bring any addresses you want to communicate with
or send updates to. While I am still looking for a more reliable
connection from the boat, we will generally always be able to send and
        receive messages when in port.
        Expenses

Crew members will be responsible for their transportation to and from
the ports, and personal expenses. Note that on some legs it may be
necessary to travel some distance to the boat location from the airport and the use of a rental
car may be desirable.  It is also possible that the boat may be
further away from the scheduled embarkation point than planned due to
        the vicissitudes of the journey.
